Description
Traditional method of applying an infrared filter over a xenon light to provide supplemental infrared illumination has several drawbacks. One of the most critical disadvantage is during the transitioning from IR to white light, which often occurs at the most critical juncture, leaving little time for the operator to take the triggering finger off the trigger only to flip open the IR filter. Another reason that the application of IR filter is not desirable for modern day tactical illumination is the introduction of LED light as the primary light source. The white light generated by LED lacks infrared component. As a result, the application of IR filter over the head of LED light will not generate any significant level of infrared illumination for supplementing NVG. MD2 LED NVGLight is designed with an independent IR illuminator for providing IR illumination without giving up many advantages of utilizing LED as the primary light source. With its high-power IR illuminator, tactical operator will always have white light at any time on demand. Unlike the IR filtered xenon light which has a hot center spot that often saturates night vision equipment, the side IR illuminator provides powerful infrared light that projects an even and smooth coverage of illumination. LED is power efficient, shockproof and long-lasting that will not burn out like incandescent lamps at the most critical moment. It is electronically regulated by the sophisticated onboard electronics for sustaining the longest possible duration of at least 90 minutes at peak brightness. It is suitable for long missions since the LED will continue to provide diminishing light output for 3 hours after the peak duration. The integrated cross bolt screw mount attaches the light securely to a MIL-STD 1913 rail. The IR illuminator is interchangeable with laser sight pod for larget assistance or an optional side LED light for providing low visibility red light or low signature NVG-compatible light. Manufactured by high precision CNC machine from aerospace grade aluminum with anti-abrasive, anti-corrosive, and anti-reflective military spec Type III hard anodized exterior finish, MD2 LED NVGLight is rugged and durable for illumination in the most critical environments. The anti-reflective finish reduces glare and minimizes signature for ensuring stealth. MD2 LED NVGLight is preconfigured with TR8 brightness controllable remote switch tail-cap. The low setting switch momentarily turns on the light at low light output, just enough for staging and navigation prior to assault. Pressing the pad switches the light on high output. Under duress, pressing both low and high switches turns on the light at high setting. Clicking the constant-on switch turns on the light at high output and stays on. The independent side pod MTC2 tail-cap switch easily activates the IR illuminator. The unit can be easily serviced in the field with a Field Maintenance Kit, including the option of replacing the front tempered glass lens if it is damaged during an unexpected frontal impact. Since both the primary light and the side IR illuminator are LED based, the entire system is shock-proof, recoil-proof, and electronically controlled, making MD2 LED NVGLight one of the most advanced tactical light system engineered by PentagonLight™ for the military and law enforcement agencies that require supplemental IR illumination in addition to a powerful white light.
