Description
Traditional method of applying an infrared filter over a xenon light to provide supplemental infrared illumination has several drawbacks. One of the most critical disadvantage is during the transitioning from IR to white light, which often occurs at the most critical juncture, leaving little time for the operator to take the triggering finger off the trigger only to flip open the IR filter. Our MD2 Xenon NVGLight addresses this problem with an independent side IR LED illuminator, allowing the white light to be always available on demand when needed. Unlike the IR filtered xenon light which is weak and often inadequate, the side IR LED illuminator provides powerful IR light that projects a perfect spot out to 100 meters in distance. Similar to other MD-Series lights, the optimal placement of NVGLight is at 3 o'clock position on a rail with vertical handgrip. Although other positions are permissible, this position allows the direct activation of IR illuminator with the thumb of the grip holding hand, while allowing the remote triggering of the primary white light via the straight cord pressure pad at anytime. The primary xenon light provides 80 lumens of smooth light beam maximally-focused by our proprietary textured reflector for achieving the greatest distance and center brightness. The xenon bulb is protected by an anti-scratch tempered glass lens, and is damped against recoil by the internal spring loaded back-plate deflection mechanism against a completely isolated battery compartment. The integrated cross bolt screw mount attaches the light securely to a MIL-STD 1913 rail. The IR illuminator is interchangeable with laser sight pod for larget assistance or an optional side LED light for providing low visibility red light or low signature NVG-compatible light. Manufactured by high precision CNC machine from aerospace grade aluminum with anti-abrasive, anti-corrosive, and anti-reflective military spec Type III hard anodized exterior finish, MD2 Xenon NVGLight is rugged and durable for illumination in the most critical environments. The anti-reflective finish reduces glare and minimizes signature in ensuring stealth. MD2 LED NVGLight is preconfigured with TR6 brightness controllable remote switch tail-cap. The low setting switch momentarily turns on the light at low light output, just enough for staging and navigation prior to assault. Pressing the pad switches the light on high output. Under duress, pressing both low and high switches turns on the light at high setting. Clicking the constant-on switch turns on the light at high output and stays on. All switches are at finger length distance for easy and instant operation. An independent MTC2 side pod tail-cap switch easily activates the side IR illuminator. Each MD2 NVGLight is individually serialized for inventory control. The unit can be easily serviced in the field with a Field Maintenance Kit, including the option of replacing the front tempered glass lens if it is damaged during an unexpected frontal impact.
